A Book Review: Can’t Look Away
This book is fast-moving and fun. Can’t Look Away by Carola Lovering was suggested by the staff at RJ Julia Booksellers, one of my favorite book stores located in Madison, CT.
The novel centers around Molly Diamond, a twenty-three-year-old Brooklyn barista turned yoga instructor. Molly meets eyes with the lead singer of an up-and-coming Southern-rock band, Jake Danner. The novel bounces back and forth between their early days as a couple in Brooklyn and present day. The novel has a bit more depth than your average beach read, with some interesting manipulations and twists. When Molly and Jake’s lives become intertwined in present day it creates a number of complications in both of their lives.
It’s a classic story of first love gotten’ away with a quick pace to keep the story moving. While certain aspects of the plot were a bit predictable, I found the characters to be really relatable and fun to follow along with. I don’t typically read rom-com type novels, but I really enjoyed this book. Beach read with a twist anyone?
